What is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is the latest in cosmetic skin resurfacing. It is one of the most frequently sought after non-surgical, non-invasive skin care treatments available. Microdermabrasion is safe, quick, convenient and proven effective for all skin colours and types, from light to dark, dry to oily. This age-defying process can give a brighter, smoother appearance to any skin area in need of exfoliation such as face, neck, hands and chest. How does it work?
A precise stream of aluminium oxide crystals is directed through a hand piece onto the skin. This, in turn, loosens and exfoliates the top layer of dead cells. The skin is simultaneously vacuumed to reveal a fresher, healthier looking you. Microdermabrasion promotes the production of new cells in the basal (deepest) layers of the skin and stimulates the growth of collagen to further smooth and improve skin tone and appearance. Best results are achieved through a series of treatments and a regular maintenance program.
How long does the treatment take?
The actual treatment is approximately 30 minutes in duration and can be tied in with any of our treatment facials. Treatments for chest and hands will vary in duration.
Is the process painful?
Microdermabrasion can be described as a slight prickling which to most people is not considered uncomfortable or painful.
How many treatments will it take?
For optimum results, Microdermabrasion involves a series of treatments. Modest results may be achieved with a single visit. However, it is unrealistic to expect significant change from just one treatment. The number of treatments depends on the type of skin you have. Our highly trained skin technicians will suggest a personal treatment plan designed to achieve your desired result.
Possible side effects?
A mild redness and the sensation of a slight sunburn may be felt for a few days after treatment, and some slight flaking may occur. This will resolve quickly. Importantly, neoSKiN’s treatments require no down-time from your busy life.
Vitamin Infusion
What is Vitamin Infusion?
Vitamin Infusion, or Iontophoresis, enables deeper and more effective penetration of either Vitamins A or C into the dermis (deepest) layer of the skin using micro-currents. At neoSKiN, we use an advanced penetrant-enhancing machine to aid in the treatment of all skin problems. Vitamin Infusion is especially helpful for “red” skins, acne prone skins, rosacea and sun-damaged skins.
How does it work?
Electrical stimulation with polarity reversal creates temporary openings in the skin’s epidermal-dermal barrier, enabling the passage of substances into the dermis. Vitamin Infusion is essentially useful in aiding in the absorption of the anti-age active substances applied to the skin.
Medical research and extensive trials have shown that vitamin A has a corrective effect on the skin, smoothing and softening, whilst at the same time protecting it from the effects of ultra-violet radiation and free radicals. The most important activity of vitamin A is that it normalises the skin, promoting the production of healthy collagen and elastin and improves the natural moisturising factors of the skin.
How long does the treatment take?
The treatment itself will usually take about thirty minutes including your assessment. It is recommended that you incorporate Vitamin Infusion into a monthly regime, but it can also be taken as a course of monthly booster treatments over six months. Face Rolling
What is a Face Rolling?
The Face Roller is the latest technological innovation in advanced skin rejuvenation. The Face Roller delivers younger, healthier looking skin, without surgery, laser, facial peels, and without the pain and expense of invasive treatments. The Face Roller increases the penetration of skin creams by many hundreds of times and maximises the effectiveness of anti-ageing ingredients.
How does it work?
The Face Roller head is covered with nearly 200 tiny steel needles measuring only 0.15mm in length. Once it is rolled over the skin, it works by creating hundreds of tiny channels through the protective outer layer (the epidermis) of the skin. These channels provide a route for administration of the cream and optimise the absorption of skin creams into the deeper layer of the skin – the dermis. The Face Roller can be used all over the face and neck and even around the delicate eye area.
How long does the treatment take?
With regular use, the face roller delivers younger, healthier looking skin. Three minutes a day 2-3 times a week is all it takes.
How do I use the Face Roller?
When treating the face, start rolling in one direction for a few seconds then roll at a right angle for the same amount of time, criss-crossing the target area with the roller head – generally, 5-10 rolls over the same area is sufficient. Apply as much pressure as you feel comfortable. When rolling the neck and around the eyes, remember that the skin is much thinner so roll gently. Once you have rolled the entire face or target area, apply your recommended treatment cream or product. The roller is best rinsed under hot water and allowed to dry before returning it to a clean plastic container. The roller is to be used by one person only.
Possible side effects?
There are no side effects or contraindications for the roller. As the roller will increase absorption of any creams you rub into the skin after you have used the roller, you may get an increased response to those creams. Always be careful when using the roller in conjunction with prescription substances, as you may have an increased reaction initially.
